Boerengat
Because it’s Restaurantweek, I’m going out for dinner again. Tonight I’m going to Boerengat.
Before it housed a pub, the building on the Oostzeedijk used to be a cigar shop. After it became a pub, Boerengat has long been known as the busiest and friendliest pub in Rotterdam. There was no other bar that sold more liters of beer per square meter. After the former owners sold the famous cafe, Boerengat changed hands several times. This left it without a heart and soul.
Nowadays Boerengat is again one of the coziest bars of Rotterdam. It is located in an authentic environment, the Oostzeedijk in the Kralingen district.
It was completely refurbished in 2007. Both the cafe and restaurant, as well as the kitchen have been thoroughly renovated. But the old style, that can be best described as homely, was maintained. The result is a ‘cozy’ bar with large chandeliers on the ceiling and an intimate restaurant, with seats for 27 persons.
